Town Talk Anti-Tarnish Silver Polish is the product we use regularly in our day-to-day medal cleaning activities. It is available in a full-size 250 ml bottle or a smaller 10 ml bottle for individual or occasional use.
Directions for use: This polish is ideal for use on silver-coloured medals. Avoid using it on any gold-plated medals, such as the Queen’s Golden Jubilee medal. A high shine may not be achievable on all medals — for example, the Gulf or Iraq medals can be difficult to brighten due to their specific metal composition.
Apply a small amount of polish and gently rub it into the areas you wish to clean using a small piece of cotton wool. Buff off with a clean piece of cotton wool to remove residue, and repeat the process until the desired shine is achieved.
Take care to ensure the polish does not come into contact with medal ribbons. When medals are mounted, clasps are often best cleaned using a soft eraser to remove tarnish without risking polish/tarnish transfer to medal ribbons.
