We are specialists in military tailoring and medal mounting, and we are selling the boards that we use for medal mounting to enable access to good quality products if you are looking to mount medals at home.
We no longer use buckram as a medal backing, as we feel it is no longer fit for purpose and does not meet the requirements for waterproofing, and durability. We use a foam PVC alternative which is 3mm thick. The board does not bend, however it is easily cut with a blade and easily sewn through with either a machine or hand sewing needles.
We sell the product in 2 colours, black and red. Red backing should be used if you are mounting medals for a member of the Guards.
We sell a 50mm depth for miniature medals, 70mm for large medals and a deeper board for large medals which have MBE/OBE/AFC/DFC etc decorations which require deeper boards. The board depth can be trimmed down easily to meet regulation requirements.
We have listed various lengths of board however if there is a size that you need that isn't listed, please order the board which is closest to the size you require and send an email to info@lincsmila.com with your required size.
Boards are trimmed by hand so please allow for there to be a margin of +/- 1mm.
